Homemade Onion Dip #recipe @vmburns #Giveaway

vmburns: My 2023 ended with a fizzle. I had a death in the family and got COVID. YUCK! So, I rang in Christmas and the New Year in isolation. Thankfully, the poodles were great company. Originally, I had great plans to celebrate the new year. I bought a prime rib, but my mood wouldn't do it justice. So, I decided to hang on to that for a later date. I didn't want to go to the effort of cooking a big meal, but I still needed to eat. I'd bought the ingredients for a charcuterie board for when I planned to celebrate. Cheese, meat, crackers, and fruit were just what I needed. The only thing missing was a spread. No hummus in the pantry, but that's when I decided to add an onion dip. Sour cream and onion soup mix. Easy peasy. My only problem was that I was out of onion soup mix. However, thanks to the SavoryExperiment.com, I found a recipe for homemade onion soup mix which was super easy. I cut the recipe in half and made a few minor substitutions, but it turned out great.

Homemade Onion Dip

INGREDIENTS
  • 1/2 Cup dried onion flakes (I used minced)
  • 3 Tablespoons beef bouillon ground
  • 1 Tablespoon parsley flakes
  • 1/2 Teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/2 Teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2  Teaspoon celery salt
  • 1/2 Teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1/4 Teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/4 Teaspoon fine sea salt
  • 1 Cup sour cream

  • INSTRUCTIONS

    1. Combine the dry ingredients and mix well.

    2. Mix the dry ingredients with the sour cream.
Here's my finished charcuterie board (or plate).

    MURDER ON TOUR

While Sam wraps up her first whirlwind book tour, Nana Jo has kept Market Street Mysteries running smoothly. The last stop is a prestigious book festival in Sam’s hometown of North Harbor, Michigan. But not everyone thinks the guest of honor, bestselling author Judith Hunter, deserves stellar reviews. Sam witnesses nasty arguments between Judith and two different authors—who accuse her of plagiarism and sabotage . . .

When a publicist is poisoned during a cocktail reception, Sam wonders if the killer missed the intended target. It’s a twist that echoes the plot of Sam’s mystery,
Murder at Wickfield Lodge. But fact can be stranger—and deadlier—than fiction. How much collateral damage is the killer willing to risk? With feisty Nana Jo and the girls from Shady Acres Retirement Village lending a hand, Sam tries to solve the case before the festival delivers another fatality . . .

    6. Aw darling, how awful. So very sorry to hear you had such a rough ending of the year. New Year’s is just a date. Don’t let that hold you back from celebrating as soon as you’re feeling tiptop. And I thought it was horrible to have respiratory cold during the holidays that left me with a shiny nose, like Rudolph, the reindeer and little scars from rough tissues, my nose . I love the idea of the onion dip being homemade. I am definitely gonna make this sounds delicious. Onion dip is always been my favorite dip. There’s a brand that I always pick up when I’m in the store and in the mood to have chips and dip and sometimes veggies when I feel like having a healthy snack. Thanks again for all you do keeping us Happy reading. Raising the glass of something warm, maybe a hot toddy to the new year. Thanks again Rosemarie roseb2007@verizon.net
