Pecan Chocolate Pie from @MaddieDayAuthor #giveaway

MADDIE DAY here. I always like to bake a pecan pie at Thanksgiving to go along with the pumpkin and apple pies. But this recipe is so good, you can make it all year round!

Pecan Chocolate Bourbon Pie

Ingredients

Crust not shown

Homemade or store-bought single pie crust, chilled

2 cups pecans (about 7 ounces)

3 large eggs

½ cup dark brown sugar

½ cup maple syrup

¼ cup molasses

1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract

2 tablespoons butter (melted)

3 tablespoons bourbon (substitute with maple syrup if desired or omit)

½ teaspoon salt

¾ cup semisweet chocolate chips

Directions

Preheat the oven to 375°. On a rimmed baking sheet, toast the pecans for about 8 minutes, or until fragrant; coarsely chop.

In a large bowl, whisk the eggs with the brown sugar, corn syrup, vanilla, melted butter, bourbon and salt until blended. Stir in the pecans and chocolate chips until evenly distributed. (Sorry, I forgot to take pictures of the intermediate steps!)

Pour the filling into the pie shell. Bake on the middle shelf of the oven for about 55 minutes or until the center of the pie is set. Tent the crust with foil halfway through the baking time if the edge is browning too quickly.

Transfer the pie to a rack and let cool for at least 1 hour before serving.

Enjoy with a cup of coffee and a good book!

  4. Sounds delicious and a great variation to a holiday favorite. Thank you for the recipe.

I love another holiday variation that my Mom use to make - Praline Pumpkin Pie. It has a praline pecan layer on top of the crust and under the pumpkin. It gives newbies to it a delightful surprise on the first bite.

I'm not entering the contest because I've been blessed with the opportunity to read an ARC. In fact, I'm posting my review today. <3

  7. That sounds sinfully delicious!
Toasting the pecans first will add an extra measure of tastiness, I'm sure.

  9. I have always liked a good Charleston Chocolate Chip pie but I think that your pie may just replace it! I would have never thought to add bourbon but what a fun thing to do for a slightly different flavor. I bet it brings out the nuts. Fingers crossed for the Deep Fried Death ARC and of course I would review it and make one of the yummy recipes that I am sure are included at the end of the book. tracy dot condie at gmail dot com
