Roasted Brussels Sprouts @TinaKashian

Hello from TINA KASHIAN! My two daughters like Brussels sprouts and sometimes they even ask for this vegetable. I know this is unusual. They did not always enjoy them. When my oldest was little she used to call them “fart bombs.” Kids are funny and use bodily functions to voice a lot of thoughts. But they do like this vegetable now. I’ve also noticed restaurants are serving Brussels sprouts more often. They can be an appetizer or a side dish to a good steak or chicken dish. I found this recipe on Pinterest and it’s easy to prepare and tasty.

Ingredients:

6 cups Brussels sprouts (cut in half lengthwise)

¼ cup extra virgin olive oil

1 tsp garlic powder

½ tsp salt

¼ tsp freshly ground black pepper

Directions:

Preheat oven to 400 degrees Fahrenheit. In a bowl, toss the Brussels sprouts with ¼ cup olive oil, garlic powder, salt and pepper. Arrange the Brussels sprouts in a single layer on 13x9-inch baking dish.

Roast the Brussels sprouts for 25-35 minutes. Turn them halfway through until they are browned.

 Enjoy!

  1. Never been a fan of brussel sprouts. If I had to pick one vegetable, it would have to be the potato just because it's so versatile. I do love cauliflower too.

    1. I love tomatoes. I have one daughter who will eat them. My husband, John, and my oldest daughter won't touch them. So sad!

  3. Might be easier to say, I am not a huge eggplant or okra fan, otherwise I love vegetables. Roasted cauliflower and carrots are particular favorites right now. I do find that brussels sprouts have a rather negative impact on my digestive system as I age if I eat more than a few. Do love them roasted though!

    1. I understand about Brussels sprouts being hard on the stomach. I find roasting them helps. I like eggplant ragout or stew

  4. I didn't used to like brussel sprouts, but they were usually served cooked to death.
Now if they are crunchy roasted, I'm on board.
I use a version of your recipe with the addition sometimes of Parmesan cheese or balsamic vinegar.

    1. You're right about overcooking them. Then they are blah! Roasting them brings out different flavors and textures and is delicious.

  7. Good afternoon, I was wondering if any of you do author talks for libraries. I work at a small rural library and I am always looking for authors who would be interested in doing a virtual author talk. I am also starting up a mystery cookbook club at our library and would love to have someone talk about their books, their recipes etc. Thank you.

  8. Nice recipe. Love brussel sprouts. It is one of my favorites along with Broccoli and cauliflower. I am a fan of shrimp scampi I often put a small frozen batch of shrimp scampi on the brussel sprouts mixed in with 4 or 5 other vegetables into an individual serve casserole dish and cook them in the microwave. For the rest of the family I fix something else. I am the only one here who like shrimp and who like brussel sprouts. I will be trying this recipe in the next couple of days. Thank for for a new one.
