Halloween Crunch Bars @TinaKashian1

Hello from TINA KASHIANFall is my second favorite season. (Summer is my first). I like the colorful leaves, decorations, corn mazes, hayrides, and Halloween costumes. There’s so much to do and see during the fall season. I’m a chocolate lover and when it comes to baking treats for both the younger and older members of my family, these crunch bars are popular. They are easy to make and no baking is required. Hope you give them a try!

Ingredients:

3 cups crispy rice cereal (any brand will do)

1 ½ cups semi-sweet chocolate chips

1 cup peanut butter

½ cup maple syrup

¼ cup butter

Halloween sprinkles

Directions:

Line an 8 x 8 inch baking dish with parchment paper and set aside. Add crispy rice cereal into a large mixing bowl and set aside. In a microwave safe bowl, combine the rest of the ingredients.

Microwave for 25 seconds at a time until melted. Whisk until smooth.

Pour the mixture over the crispy rice cereal and mix until combined.

Pour into the lined baking dish. Decorate with Halloween sprinkles.

Refrigerate for one hour or until firm.

Cut into bars. Enjoy!

Not even her impending nuptials can keep Lucy Berberian, manager of her family-owned Kebab Kitchen, from the Jersey Shore’s annual Polar Bear Plunge. But her dive into the icy ocean is especially chilling when she finds a fellow swimmer doing the dead man’s float—for real . . .

Who would kill a man in cold blood during Ocean Crest, New Jersey’s most popular winter event? When Lucy learns the victim is Deacon Spooner, the reception hall owner who turned up his nose—and his price—at her wedding plans, she can’t help wondering who wouldn’t kill the pompous caterer . . .

Perhaps the culprit is the wedding cake baker whose career Deacon nearly destroyed? Or the angry bride whose reception he ruined? With her maid of honor, Katie, busily planning Lucy’s wedding without her, Lucy will have to get to the bottom of this cold-hearted business in time for Kebab Kitchen’s mouthwatering Christmas celebration—and before her hometown’s holiday spirit washes out to sea . . .

  1. As for a bought tree, I love the peanut butter kisses. They remind me of my childhood and how we looked forward to Halloween to get to enjoy them. Another memory maker for me has to the the caramel popcorn balls and caramel apples that were always were and still are a favorite of mine. Nothing better than going out to pick fresh apples and then making treats that night.

    1. Hi Kay, I also enjoy caramel apples. It is fun to go apple picking and them dip them in caramel.

  2. Delicious! And I happen to have a box of crispy rice cereal in the house (I use it for my late friend Joan's cheesy crackers - also delish).

  4. Your new book sounds terrific, Tina. My daughter has done polar plunges in various locations. It's a great setup for a murder. ~Maya

  6. So easy. You don't have to fire up the oven, although right now in Maine the added warmth from that would be welcome!
