#Cheesy Bits by @Cheryl Hollon

Happy Easter to those who celebrate!

Today my guest is Cheryl Hollon and she's got a great recipe and giveaway for you.

Spring was here for about a week in St. Petersburg, Florida, and now full summer is banging on the door with temperatures in the eighties well before noon. That means that lighter dishes are on the house menu and this is one of my favorites. Enjoy!

Cheesy Bits

Ingredients:

1 cup grated cheddar cheese or use a packaged cheese mixture
1 cup chopped white onion
1 cup mayonnaise (here in the South, we use DUKE’S mayonnaise)
4 slices of sourdough bread (or any sliced bread on hand)

Equipment:
Small mixing bowl
Baking Sheet
Aluminum Foil
Parchment Paper
Spatula
Knife
Cutting Board
Measuring Cup
Spoon

Directions:

Preheat oven to 375 degrees

Wrap baking sheet in aluminum foil. Cut a piece of parchment paper to fit.
Mix chopped onions, grated cheese, and mayonnaise in the bowl until thoroughly blended.

Cut bread slices into fourths.
Heap about a tablespoon of the mixture onto each piece covering the slice to the edges.
Place on baking sheet with about a half an inch separation.

Bake in the oven for 15-20 minutes checking frequently until topping is bubbly and browned around the edges.
Let cool for a few minutes.

Makes 16

My husband absolutely loves this snack. For a variation, I sometimes add a bit of last night’s leftover meat. It’s extremely flexible and lends itself to experimentation. Have fun!

The Webb’s Glass Shop Mysteries featuring new business owner Savannah Webb, are set in St. Petersburg, Florida. The series features a different glass art in each book beginning with Pane and Suffering, then continues with Shards of Murder, Cracked to Death, Etched in Tears, and Shattered at Sea.

The sixth book, Down in Flames releases on June 25, 2019, and is available for pre-order at the following links:

Isn’t this a gorgeous cover!

A fatal hit-and-run in front of Savannah Webb's glass shop proves to be no accident . . .

A highlight of Savannah's new glass bead workshop is a technique called flame-working, which requires the careful wielding of acetylene torches. Understandably, safety is a top priority. But as Savannah is ensuring her students' safety inside, a hit-and-run driver strikes down a pedestrian outside her shop.

The victim is Nicole Borawski, the bartender/manager at the Queen's Head Pub, owned by Savannah's boyfriend Edward. It quickly becomes clear that this was no random act of vehicular manslaughter. Now the glass shop owner is all fired up to get a bead on the driver—before someone else meets a dead end

  4. Since it's just the two of us, we tend not to do major Holiday celebrations. I have some leftover Italian Herb bread that would be killer in this recipe. Maybe tonight for supper?? Thanks for the recipe and the chance to win.

  18. Hi, Cheryl! I'm interested in both your book (nice cover, btw) and the easy cheesy recipe. We used to do stained glass projects for our house, with me doing the designs and using the torch, while letting hubby cut the glass as I was afraid of breaking it! Duke's is our fave mayo, too. lola777_22 at hotmail dot com

  29. I became interested in Cheryl’s first book due to having family in St. Petersburg and my sister in law who was working at a stained glass shop too.
I’ve really enjoyed two books in this series but do have some catching up I know but my slowness in reading was from cataracts keeping me from reading much or fast for a few years. Now I’m doing much better with vision and would be delighted to receive Etched in Tears or Shattered At Sea. Thank you so much. If I’m am selected please contact me on my FB page at Cynthia Bayer Blain as I don’t leave my email address on any blogs due to a problem before. Thank you so much.

Congratulations on your upcoming June release Cheryl. So exciting!

    Thank you again!
    Cynthia

  32. I can tell you my great-grandson would love these. He likes anything with cheese -- even zucchini and he won't usually touch anything green. I will have to make this the next time he & his mother come to visit. :)
