Slow Cooker Steak Stroganoff #Vmburns #Giveaway

V.M. Burns: I've mentioned before that I love my slow cooker. I think this recipe might have been one of the first recipes that I ever made in a slow cooker. It came from a recipe book that I've had so long, I don't even remember where I got it. It's called, FIX & FORGET, and the copyright is from 1989. I added 1/2 Teaspoon of Lawry's Season Salt and skipped the parsley. Also, the recipe specifies to cut the beef into strips. When I first made the recipe, I measured and made sure to get the sizes exactly perfect. Later, I realized, it didn't matter. They just need to be bite-sized. The recipe is simple and very forgiving.

Steak Stroganoff

INGREDIENTS

  • 2 Tablespoons Flour
  • 1/2 Teaspoon Garlic powder
  • 1/2 Teaspoon Pepper
  • 1/4 Teaspoon Paprika
  • 1 Boneless Beef round steak (about 1 3/4 lb)
  • 1 Can Cream of Mushroom soup
  • 1/2 Cup water
  • 1 Package Lipton Onion Mushroom soup mix
  • 1 Jar sliced Mushrooms, drained
  • 1/2 Cup Sour Cream
  • 1 Tablespoon Minced Parsley

INSTRUCTIONS
  1. Combine the flour, garlic powder, pepper, and paprika in the slow cooker.

  2. Trim any excess fat from the beef. Then, cut the beef into  1 1/2 by 1/2 inch strips and toss in the flour mixture until the meat is well coated.

  3. Add Mushroom soup, dry soup mix, and water. Stir until blended.

  4. Cover and cook on low for 6 to 7 hours or until meat is tender.
  5. Stir in the mushrooms, sour cream, and parsley. Cover and cook on high until heated through (10 to 15 minutes).

MURDER ON TOUR

Bookstore owner and Michigander Samantha Washington is thrilled to see her debut historical mystery finally on the shelves, but a killer seems determined to steal away the spotlight . . .

While Sam wraps up her first whirlwind book tour, Nana Jo has kept Market Street Mysteries running smoothly. The last stop is a prestigious book festival in Sam’s hometown of North Harbor, Michigan. But not everyone thinks the guest of honor, bestselling author Judith Hunter, deserves stellar reviews. Sam witnesses nasty arguments between Judith and two different authors—who accuse her of plagiarism and sabotage . . .

When a publicist is poisoned during a cocktail reception, Sam wonders if the killer missed the intended target. It’s a twist that echoes the plot of Sam’s mystery, Murder at Wickfield Lodge. But fact can be stranger—and deadlier—than fiction. How much collateral damage is the killer willing to risk? With feisty Nana Jo and the girls from Shady Acres Retirement Village lending a hand, Sam tries to solve the case before the festival delivers another fatality . .

  2. I love my slow cooker, too. I have an old recipe, similar, to the beef stroganoff, but made with chicken. It has the chicken, mushrooms, and mushroom soup, but sour cream mixed with some flour, is added toward the end. I, also, love making chili in the slow cooker, too. cd0228@aol.com

  3. Good morning and welcome. Thanks for sharing such a wonderful recipe. I love my slow cooker. Most of the time I can get my ingredients prepared the night before and in the morning I just pull out of the fridge and voila. 4. I love the slow cooker but I have a new favorite. We got a Breville oven/air fryer in Spring and I use it almost daily. It does everything! I have your new book but thanks for the recipe!

  5. Strange as it sounds, I've never owned a slow cooker. I've eaten food prepared in one and it was delicious. My main reason for not having one is space. Limited on space has always kept me from buying one. Now I have the space, but so use to doing things the old way. Kind of like you can't teach an old dog new tricks I guess.

Appreciate the recipe. My BFF works and I know she's going to love it.

Thank you for the wonderful chance to win a copy of MURDER ON TOUR! Would love to read and review it.

  8. Love slow cookers! My crock cracked and replacements are wildly expensive, so now use my Instapot slow cooker function. It's awesome! I make a simple Italian beef in it with a jar of pepperoncini. Also machaca beef or chicken with a jar of salsa. All three are so versatile, can serve over rice, with tortillas, make burritos or tacos. The Italian beef makes great sandwiches and is really tasty over mashed potatoes. This stroganoff looks like a keeper to me! Thanks, makennedyinaz at hotmail dot com
