Apple Cidertini from @MaddieDayAuthor plus #giveaway

MADDIE: Well, Thanksgiving is over. I hope you all had a delicious, cozy, and safe feast yesterday. That said, if family has departed, you might want a nice adult beverage to relax (collapse?) on the couch with as you curl up with a cozy mystery, and you might have some apple cider still in the fridge.

In Murder at the Lobstah Shack - which releases Tuesday, squee! - Mac Almeida's boyfriend Tim makes a delicious Cidertini for her one evening. I thought it would be a perfect time to let you all in on the recipe!

Apple Cidertini

I was out of apple brandy, and regular brandy was fine.
For one serving:

1/2 cup apple cider

2 ounces vodka

1 ounce apple brandy

Cinnamon stick to stir

Apple slice for garnish

Directions

Combine cider and liquors. Shake over ice and serve in a pretty glass, or just pour over ice in a Manhattan glass. Enjoy!

  1. I like hot cocoa with either cinnamon schnapps or Fireball in it for a chilly winter night. Warms me up quite nicely. 3labsmom(at)gmail(dot)com.

  5. Congratulations on the soon to be released "Murder at the Lobstah Shack"!

The APPLE CIDERTINI sounds yummy and I would to try one.

I love a drink I found on a trip that was served at the Drury. They called it Skittle, but it wasn't like what I found when I researched the recipe. So on the next trip I asked what was in it and watched closer to them making it. It's orange juice, vodka, sprite, grenadine and a splash of sweet and sour topped with cherries. I will confess that as a general rule I still only drink it when we stop at Drury. Most times in the winter if I want a special treat, I make homemade cocoa with real whipped cream and chocolate shavings.

  6. Can't go wrong with the classic hot chocolate loaded with marshmallows. But I'm always on the lookout for fun drinks. I have everything I need for a Cidertini so I'll have to try it this weekend when we have our Thanksgiving.

  19. I've been thinking about mulled wine.
One year, a long time ago, my brother in law made Tom and Jerry drinks. Kind of a cousin to eggnog. I remember them as marvelous, but the few times I've tried, my results left a lot to be desired!

  21. I love to try new drinks! For decades I used to make my own liqueurs,(Mom taught me how to make Kahlua, the rest were from friends) save some for me and give the rest as gifts. I also like hot mulled cider or wine. Now I just mostly relax with anything spiked with bourbon or rum, whether it's Hot Toddies, egg nog or hot chocolate, especially the Mexican version. Otherwise,I just have a few glasses of wine and I'm good! BTW, I really enjoyed No Grater Crime! lola777_22 at hotmail dot com

  22. Visiting Colorado a few years ago, I tried a local speciality, Gingercello. It makes an amazing Cosmo. In a shaker add 2 oz vodka, 1 oz Gingercello, 1/2 oz each Pomegranate and Cranberry juice, a slice each of lemon and lime squeezed into the shaker. Shake with ice, pour into a martini glass and garnish with fresh mint. YUM! (Compliments of Marble Distillery, Carbondale, CO)

  25. Congratulations on your release this week. I’ll be looking forward to holding a book as soon as my ribs are healed from my bad fall. I’d be thrilled to read your book while I’m coming fined to bed with my broken ankle and foot and knee injuries. You’d think that I had been tippling too much wouldn’t you?

My favorite cold weather drink is homemade hot chocolate with Kailua and whipped cream on top! Dessert!

So happy for you and another release . You are amazing! Cynthia Blain
