Three Ingredient Fruit Dip

Am I the only person who never heard of this? I suspect it might be one of those things our moms knew about but fell out of fashion. To be honest, mixing sour cream with brown sugar and vanilla seems wrong to me. It never would have occurred to me to put them together without flour and eggs to bake a cake.

But it turns out this is actually very tasty. It's even sort of addictive. You can use it as a sweet sauce or as a dip on a platter of fruit. In this case, I topped a bland vanilla pudding with it to perk up a simple lunch.

Sour Cream Fruit Dip

1 cup sour cream
2 tablespoons dark brown sugar
1/2 teaspoon vanilla

Mix the three ingredients. Let them sit for about ten minutes and stir again to combine.

That's it! Can you believe it?

Mix the three ingredients.

Let sit a few minutes. When you stir again. those bits of brown sugar will blend in.

Lunch before.

Lunch after!

  1. That is easy. Years ago my cousin mixed sour cream into fruit cocktail. Much to everyone's surprise it was delicious.

  2. I've never heard of such a thing, but I'm intrigued! I've mixed plain yogurt into fruit salad, so I'm guessing this would have a similar taste. Thanks for sharing, Krista!

  4. If you use fresh ricotta in place of the sour cream it makes a pudding in and of itself.
    Yum.

  5. This is very similar to one we make. The only difference is we add fresh squeezed lemon juice also. Yum
