Snow Day

KRISTA: As I write this, we are waiting patiently for 16 inches of heavy wet snow to melt. Big Baron didn't even want to step into it. It's up to his hips. However, he did walk around the yard with me. We have huge tree limbs all over the place. There's even one on the terrace. I anticipate the sound of chainsaws soon. I'll admit that it's pretty, but instead of enjoying the day, I'm wrestling with the Internet.

You see, my brand spanking new super speed, underground Comcast gave out. To their credit, when I phoned them, they were able to make a diagnosis over the phone. However, it will be Wednesday before they can send a technician to fix it. I do find it a little bit humorous that even though everyone is predicting that robots will take over, it still requires a human being to fix a boo boo.

So for the next three days, I will be incommunicado. I'm writing this through the personal hotspot on my iPhone. Is that the worst name ever? It only took one hour to load this empty page so I could write. It won't take photographs at all.

I'm hoping you'll all forgive me for not posting a recipe today. But I promise to be back on schedule very soon.

If anyone else is stuck in this mess (75,000 households without electricity in our little area), stay warm. Let's hope the snow melts and the electricity is up and running soon. Like in the next hour.

  1. Snow sorry...can you make ice cream? Did Mother Nature forget that it’s spring? Oh! Arizona is using the spring weather. We’ll send some your way soon....

  2. Hang in there Krista. I live in NC. We have power, thankful, only on the the edge of this mess. Stay warm and safe. Hopeful that this is the last of winter. Loving your book, Color Me Murder.

  4. It's amazing how quickly people have come to depend on the Internet for almost everything in their lives. My sister from Kentucky has been visiting me, and every time I leave the room she's in, she's on the phone to one or another relative back home. ALL THE TIME. She might go mad if she lost her mobile. So enjoy the peace, Krista--we all understand.

  5. Oh, am so sorry to hear that! Be safe, warm, and well fed. I always feel that the latter helps somehow.

  6. Oh, Krista! You won't read this for days, but I hope the warm thoughts we're sending keep you comfy, and give you a smile when you're back on line!

  7. How frustrating! My granddaughter flew in from NE Ohio yesterday to spend her spring break with us in Houston. I think it was 28 when she left; we had a high in the lower 80s yesterday. Hopefully she is enjoying the warm weather before the rains come tomorrow. I very well remember living up north and being tired of a long, long winter.

  8. My philosophy is that computers are great...until they aren't.
    Good luck.
