
When I've served this tart for a special occasion, I've used gourmet chocolate. But I recently made it as a treat during quarantine, and chocolate chips were all I had in the pantry, so I used them. The tart was delicious.

Ingredients
1/2 cup heavy cream
1/3 cup 2% milk or whole milk
8 ounces semi-sweet chocolate
2 large eggs
1 9-inch readymade shortbread pie crust (or a pre-baked homemade sweet crust)
Optional garnishes: whipped cream, ice cream, raspberries, sifted confectioner's sugar
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees.
Heat the cream and milk on high heat in a saucepan until the mixture boils. Remove it from the heat, add the chocolate, and stir until the chocolate is melted.
Beat the two eggs in a bowl and whisk in the chocolate mixture little by little.
When the ingredients are smooth, pour them into the crust.
Bake the tart in the oven for 25-30 minutes until the custard is set. The middle may look soft, but don't worry, it will get firmer as it cools.
Cool the tart for half an hour. Serve warm or cold with ice cream or a dollop of whipped cream.
Serves 8.

My favorite way to eat chocolate is to savor a chocolate truffle. In a pinch, Reese's Peanut Butter Cups will do! I like eating chocolate almost as much as I love reading cozy mysteries!

ReplyDeleteI love my Mom's Christmas Candy which begins with 8 cups of pecans and includes 4 packages of semi-sweet chocolate chips and is every bit as delicious as it sounds. :) Mom made it for Christmas every year. Now our daughter makes it every Christmas in Mom's memory. We all cry, laugh and love over this chocolate candy which is such an important part of our family Christmas.

The recipe looks AWESOME! I kinda like chocolate (Homer Simpson sigh Chocolate) I sometimes use softened chocolate & mix it with ice cream, Coolwhip & pour it into a graham cracker crust, chill it & I've got a chocolate pie that I'm proud of. Christmas I sprinkle crushed candy canes or starlight mints on the top :). Thanks for the chance to win :)
