Hello from TINA KASHIAN! Please join me in giving a warm welcome to my good friend, Meri Allen, author of Mint Chocolate Murder. I’m thrilled to have her back and try her delicious recipe!
As
my friends here at Mystery Lovers Kitchen know, part of the fun of writing a
culinary cozy is developing recipes. For my books in the Ice Cream Shop mystery
series, I’ve made some fabulous desserts. In my first book, THE ROCKY ROAD TO
RUIN, I did a margarita sorbet to die for (shared here last summer). You can find the recipe here.
Part of my new book, MINT CHOCOLATE MURDER, is set on the grounds of an eccentric millionaire’s version of a Scottish castle, and my main character, Riley Rhodes, has been tasked with making exotic ice cream treats for a fantasy ice cream social held there. I had so much fun coming up with unusual and complex gourmet flavors.
But in the summer heat, quick and easy are my favorite culinary words. I’ve heard from many readers who don’t have an ice cream maker, so today I’m sharing a delicious treat that doesn’t require much time or equipment but is still absolutely delicious. This recipe is quick, easy, and got tons of compliments from my taste testers. If you’re looking for an easy summer dessert packed with great chocolaty flavor, here it is.
No Churn Nutella Ice Cream Pie
1 can sweetened condensed milk
¾ cup Nutella
1 cup heavy whipping cream
Store bought chocolate pie shell (This recipe makes enough filling for two pies. You can also freeze the mixture in an airtight container to enjoy as ice cream.)
Raspberries for making it look fancy
Put a large bowl and the beaters of your mixer in the refrigerator to chill. Whisk together the condensed milk and Nutella.
In the chilled bowl, whip the cream just until soft peaks form (do not over mix!)
Beat in the Nutella/condensed milk mixture until well combined.
Pour mixture into your pie shell(s). Cover and put in the freezer to harden, at least six hours.
That’s it! Serve with the raspberries, sit back, and enjoy the compliments.
Meri Allen is the author of the Ice Cream Shop mystery series and as Shari Randall she writes the Lobster Shack mystery series.
No matter which name she’s using, her favorite flavor is cherry vanilla. What’s your favorite flavor? One lucky commenter below will win a copy of their choice of THE ROCKY ROAD TO RUIN or MINT CHOCOLATE MURDER. US or CAN only please.
my favorite is.... oh goodness, I have a few here. but I love ice cream with fruit, like raspberry and strawberries and blueberries. I like to make my own. I would love to read: The Rocky Road to Ruin

It's so hard to pick one, isn't it? Mint chocolate chip is my current fave!
DeleteMy favorite flavor of ice cream is Jeni's Ice Cream's Gooey Butter Cake!

DeleteThat sounds delicious! (Not sure why the comment jumped like that!)
DeleteMy favorite is cookies and cream. Jconklin7911@gmail.com
ReplyDeleteAlways so good! xo Meri
DeleteDepends entirely on the season. Summer it's fresh peach, fall it's pumpkin pie. But strawberry is always good. zukeeper.geo(at)yahoo(dot)com
ReplyDeleteOh, I just made some fresh strawberry ice cream - it's heaven! Meri
DeleteI'm like a kid in a candy store, I love them all. I will have to say my favorite though is Mocha Almond Fudge by Blue Bell. The strange thing is that I do not like coffee, but love this ice cream. Also love homemade vanilla ice cream with the fresh fruit of the seaons churned in it like strawberries or peaches. Chocolate Chip Mint was our daughter's all time favorite. Partly I think because she knew she would get to eat it all because it isn't our choice.
ReplyDeleteThank for the chance to win one of your fabulous books! Shared and hoping to be the very fortunate one selected.

Good luck, Kay! I'm the same way about coffee - I don't drink it but I love the flavor in other dishes. xo Meri
DeleteI love Ben & Jerry's Phish Food. It has all the best elements: chocolate, caramel, and marshmallow. Congratulations on the new release! aut1063(at)gmail(dot)com
ReplyDeleteThanks so much! xo Meri
DeleteThat sounds so good - and easy!
ReplyDeleteHi Edith! Honestly, I'm almost embarrassed by how easy this recipe is. And how few ingredients! Hope you're doing well! xo Meri/Shari
DeleteYour recipe sounds delicious. I have to be careful with dairy, so I don't get to eat much ice cream. I do like an occasional scoop of Whitehouse Cherry or Chocolate Almond or Pralines & Cream.
ReplyDeleteCongrats on your newest release. Thanks for the chance to win.
You are the second person who has recommended Whitehouse Cherry. I've got to find some! xo Meri

My favorite overall flavor is Rocky Road (or Heavenly Hash, which is very similar). But I also love Rainbow Sherbet (any sherbet is good, but I love the combination of orange, raspberry & lime!)
ReplyDeleteMy favorite flavor is Mackinac Island Fudge ice cream.

Hard to choose! It would be either pecan praline or dulce de leche.
