1. Melt white chocolate according to
package directions.
2. Swish cookies through melted white
chocolate and set on wire rack or plate.
3. Place mini chocolate chips for eyes
and mouth before the white chocolate sets up (I alternated swishing cookies and
placing eyes and mouth, working on 4 or 5 at a time).
Tip: Children are a great help placing eyes and mouths. Also eating
them.
For all the times I’ve made these cookies, I’ve never stopped
to wonder what Geneva, the ghost in my Haunted Yarn Shop mysteries, would think
of them. She might be tickled, or she might be hugely and billowingly insulted
at the thought of eating ghosts. Can’t you just hear her saying, “How rude!” I’m
very fond of Geneva, but she isn’t always the easiest dead person to get along
with.
For your chance to win a copy of Crewel and Unusual, and
spend quality time with Geneva, leave a comment telling me what homemade Halloween
treats you like to make. A winner will be chosen, at random, around noon on 10/25/21.
The latest mystery in this charming mystery series finds the ever-resourceful Kath Rutledge and shop ghost Geneva tangled up in an embroidery rivalry—and a murder. Geneva claims she saw the murderer leaving the scene of the crime. But the ghost is the ultimate unreliable witness . . .

I remember fondly helping my Mom made molasses taffy when I was a child, but it's the homemade caramel popcorn balls and apples that I just HAVE to make each year or it's not Halloween. My hands and muscles don't allow the making of the taffy. Love the adorable ghost! Super simple and adorable to boot.
ReplyDeleteHad to laugh at your comment about Geneva saying “How rude!” because in my mind's ear I could hear her saying it as I read it. Definitely something she would say. :)
"Crewel and Unusual" is on my TBR list and I can't wait for the opportunity to read it. Thank you for the fabulous chance to win a copy! Shared and hoping to be the fortunate one selected.
There is a recipe for a home made version of Reese's Peanut Butter Cups that is easy to make and is delicious. And .... you can cut as large a piece as you want! That's my kind of Halloween treat!

I remember making caramel apples and caramel popcorn, sometimes cutout cookies. I made some apple cider caramels last year that I think will become an annual tradition.

I remember watching Mom make popcorn balls when I was a kid. I've never tried it myself, and frankly, I don't eat anything that can pull out fillings!

I haven't made any myself but love anything with paenut butter and chocolate! tWarner419@aol.com
ReplyDeleteHow about squares of good milk or dark chocolate with bits of pretzels, candy corn, dried fruits, nuts (or not). Popcorn gets too soft.
ReplyDeleteMelted chocolate, drop garnish bits on top & press into the chocolate to hold them when the chocolate sets. CAN'T HATE THAT!
I like making mummy dogs for Halloween. It's just hot dogs wrapped in strips of crescent rolls like a mummy. Easy and the kids love them.
ReplyDeletediannekc8(at)gmail(dot)com
I a not much of a baker but I do like Halloweenish decorated cupcakes!
ReplyDeleteI haven't made Halloween treats in years, not since my boys were little. They always liked mummy dogs(hot dogs wrapped with strips of crescent dough) though.
ReplyDeleteMickeymania1@aol.com
My daddy always used to make popcorn balls every year, but I never really got into making treats until my granddaughters were diagnosed with celiac so I would make us all gluten free and allergy free treats. Now I don’t make anything.
ReplyDeleteWell I do save all the cute ideas for our students to maybe be able to make - high school special needs, they love making treats!
DeleteThose little ghosts are so cute! I have made a lot of different Halloween treats for my kids when they were younger. I've made wormy pudding dirt cakes, spooky cakes shaped as different characters, mummy fingers, witches brew or vampire blood punch, caramel apples, cut out Halloween cookies etc.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the chance! I'm so excited to see another book in the Highland Bookshop series! I have the other books in the series and love them! The book birthday is on my birthday! Going to pre-order!
