Turkey Filets with Dijon Mustard Sauce, #bookgiveaway and recipe from Essie Lang

The turkey breast filet package called out to me when I was grocery shopping the other day, as a change of pace in my usual menu selections. Of course, when I got them home I then had to find a recipe. There is was on an internet site called Gourmet Sleuth and it was a great choice.

I tinkered with the recipe and made a serving for one but you can easily increase the ingredients to feed any number of hungry guests.

I will be making it again and next time, as another change of pace, I'll try using lemon instead of lime. Lemon is actually what the original recipe called for but I'm a lime person and it worked just great.

Another plus of this recipe -- it was easy and fast.

What I used:

1 turkey filet
1 tbsp. olive oil
½ c. chicken broth
1/4 lime, juiced and sliced thinly for garnish
2 tsp. Dijon mustard
1 tbsp. chopped fresh Basil
Salt and pepper to taste

 What to do:

1.   1.  Heat olive oil in a saute pan. Add the filet and cook a few minutes on each side until cooked throughout and lightly browned. Remove to a covered dish and keep warm.
2.
2.       Add to the chicken broth to the pan, dislodging any bits stuck to the pan. Simmer until it is reduced by ½. Whisk in Dijon mustard and lime juice, and continue to simmer. Add basil.

Plate your meal and slather in sauce.

Enjoy!

  17. I have not visited a castle. We have this odd facsimile structure built in our state 30 or 40 years ago that has survived even though it was never completed.

  19. My husband (boyfriend at the time) and I were living in London for a bit and going out of the city for countryside walks on weekends. We decided to visit Leeds Castle for a change. It was good fun and there was a happy coincidence of a wine and jazz festival going on at the location!
