Like her charming amateur sleuth, author Bethany Blake has gained valuable experience running a pet-sitting business. We're thrilled that she's stopped by to share a beloved family recipe and tell us about the new entry in her delightful mystery series: Something Borrowed, Something Mewed.
Take it away Bethany!

🐾 🐾 🐾
Planning a wedding can be stressful, as Piper Templeton, the bride in my new Lucky Paws Petsitting Mystery—Something Borrowed, Something Mewed—learns when her domineering mother hires a bossy wedding planner.
Not surprisingly, Piper turns to something simple for solace: Peach Cream Pie.
This pie is seriously easy, made with only a handful of ingredients. The hardest part is peeling the peaches, which is pretty easy, too, if you blanch them first. But the result is jaw-droppingly, lick-your-plate-clean delicious.
This recipe was first made by my grandmother, Lillian, so I gave her a shout-out in the book, naming Piper and Daphne’s grandmother Lillian, too, and crediting the recipe to her.
I think of my late grandmother, and my mother, who made this, too, whenever I bake the pie—which is best at the very height of summer, when peaches are freshest. I never, ever make this in fall or winter. That would make it less special.
Love you, Grandma Lillian.
P.S. You might be thinking, shouldn’t this be called "Peaches 'n' Cream Pie," or something like that? But, no. It’s always been "Peach Cream Pie" in our family, and it really is different from other recipes with similar names.
—Bethany Blake 🐾
Peach Cream Pie
INGREDIENTS:
5-6 peaches, blanched, peeled and sliced
4 Tbs flour
¼ tsp salt
½ tsp cinnamon (or more… I use more)
1 cup cream
2/3 cup sugar
DIRECTIONS:
1. Preheat oven to 400 degrees F. Prepare your crust. I make terrible pie crust, so I use pre-made. But if you have a favorite family recipe, use it! Pre-bake for a few minutes.
3. Mix together all remaining ingredients.
4. Remove crust from oven, arrange peaches in crust and pour cream mixture over top.
5. Bake for 40 minutes, covering edges of crust with foil, if necessary.

Bethany Blake lives in a small, quaint town in Pennsylvania with her husband and three daughters. When she's not writing or riding horses, she's wrangling a menagerie of furry, finned and feathered family members that includes a nervous pit bull, a fearsome feline, an immortal goldfish, and an attack cardinal named Robert. Like Daphne Templeton, the heroine of her Lucky Paws Petsitting Mysteries, Bethany holds a Ph.D. and operates a pet-sitting business called Barkley's Premium Pet Care.

I taught her to bite my kid brother's ankles anytime he annoyed me. Yes, I was totally evil. Mwa Haa Haaaaaaaaa
