From Daryl:
In my current work in progress, SIFTING THROUGH CLUES, Cookbook Nook #8, I'm featuring book clubs. * FYI, there's a giveaway for a "book club" below. Don't miss it.

In SIFTING... the Mystery Mavens are enjoying a progressive dinner while discussing a delicious culinary mystery. But there's murder afoot.
I think whenever you have a book club, you should have something yummy to eat. In my humble opinion, savory is best if you're having a glass of wine or sparkling water. Sweet is best when sipping coffee or tea.
Here's a sweet recipe that serves up like a really moist brownie. A fan shared a chocolate zucchini recipe with me, but when I made it, it didn't turn out right. I couldn't figure it out. Maybe too much oil? Maybe I messed up the proportions? Not sure.
So I toyed with the recipe and came up with this, which I love. Now, when I was ready to make the recipe a second time, I realized I didn't have enough zucchini. I've often combined zucchini and carrots in a zucchini bread because they cook down the same way. Both have lots of moisture. Once they're cooked in, you can barely see what color they were. It's sort of magical, don't you think?
Enjoy.
1/2 cup vegetable oil
1 and 3/4 c sugar

DeleteI am not involved in a book club at the moment, so don't include me for the giveaway. But I loved my experience in book clubs. We were an eclectic mix of people brought together by our love of reading and the nibbles and noshes at the gathering were often international.
ReplyDeleteOops, had also wanted to ask if you had intended to share the recipe for proportions? I admit we get the overflow from a zucchini glut from a friend and this would be a great way to use some of it.
DeleteLil, LOLOLOL! I knew something didn't look right about this post but couldn't put my finger on it. LOL I had so many pictures, I forgot to include the recipe. Doh!! My cheeks are feeling a bit warm. LOL ~ Daryl
DeleteI would love to join a book club, as I spend the majority of my free time reading. Also, the recipe sounds great! I'll have to try it.
