Please join us in welcoming Jessica Ellicott. She writes a series that I'm so eager to read! MURDER FLIES THE COOP stars an American and a reserved Brit who find themselves solving a mystery in the "sleepy English village of Walmsley Parva." What fun! Thanks for visiting us today, Jessica.
While Edwina Davenport is an able cook her dear friend Beryl
Helliwell is only capable of opening a tin of beans. She is not particularly
adept at attempting to heat them. But Edwina has high hopes that a recipe as is
this one with such a short list of ingredients may be just the thing to help
Beryl finally learn to cook.
Despite Edwina is misgivings at the use of the popular
American food product peanut butter, she is willing to try anything to correct
what she sees as an incredible deficiency in her dear friends skill set.
Cookies, or biscuits, as they are known in the United Kingdom are an item for
which Edwina has a very soft spot. Try this simple recipe yourself and see if
you do not agree that these are the perfect thing to whip up for a last-minute
afternoon snack.
Ingredients
One egg
1 cup peanut butter
1 cup sugar
1 teaspoon salt
3 teaspoons granulated sugar
Preheat oven to 350°F. In a large bowl mix together the egg,
the peanut butter, and the sugar. Roll 1 tablespoon sized portions of the dough
into smooth balls and place approximately 1 inch apart on an ungreased cookie
sheet.
Flatten balls with the back of a fork making a crosshatch
pattern. In a separate bowl mix the salt and additional sugar until thoroughly
combined. Sprinkle the cookies with this mixture.
Bake about 10 minutes or until the edges are golden brown.
Place on a wire rack to cool. Enjoy with a glass of cold milk or a cup of tea.

Jessica Ellicott loves fountain pens, Mini Coopers and throwing parties. She lives in northern New England where she obsessively nuts. And enthusiastically speaks Portuguese with a shocking disregard for the rules of grammar.
As Jessica rock it she's the author of the nationally
best-selling Sugar Grove mysteries and that Daphne do Maury a award-winning
Live Free or Die. She also is the author of the books in the change of fortune
mysteries as Jessica Estevao.

What a simple recipe! Just right for the single person or the couple who don't want a lot of sweets sitting around. I'd love to read Murder Flies the Coop. What an interesting scenario: an American and a Brit. dbahn@iw.net

Book sounds wonderful! Biszemom@gmail.com
ReplyDeleteWhen you put a Brit and an American together in a mystery series is guaranteed to provide some good humour. Peanut butter cookies are beloved by many, and rightly so, but I just can't imagine going to even that little effort when it's so much simpler to just enjoy it straight by the spoonful.....not that I have ever been known to do that........
