Marc, my beloved husband and partner in crime-writing, never knew his Aunt Felicity (she died tragically young
of a massive coronary), but he grew up hearing about her fabulous holiday dinners,
which included ten or twelve main courses and a half-dozen desserts.
Aunt Felicity’s
meals were so legendary that, in her honor, Marc’s mother prepared one of
Felicity’s favorite and most popular dishes for every family holiday: Butter on a Stick!
Like
puff pastries, croissants, and pies, Butter on a Stick can be made sweet or
savory. And...you’ll be amazed to learn that something this amazing is actually a "no-fuss" treat. Butter on a Stick is so easy, you can prepare it
with your kids, or (better yet) have those little, freeloading rug rats make it for you!

Here’s a tasty dessert variation. Butter on a Stick with Donut Holes! Or try coating the original Butter
on a Stick (see first photo) with chocolate jimmies, or rolling it in M & M’s, crushed nuts, or crumbled Oreos.
Or simply add marshmallows, Hershey’s kisses, and fun-sized, sliced up Reese’s Cups. Yes, that would a Rocky Road Butter on a Stick!!! You are limited only by your imagination, budget, and (of course) your doctor's orders.
This Easter version of this classic dessert displays the beautifully bright yellows of spring.
Here's one for Grilling Season: Bacon-Wrapped Butter on a Stick!
Or...if
you crave sweet with your salty, try Chocolate-Dipped Bacon-wrapped Butter on a Stick with a sprinkling of French Sea Salt, of course. Oh la-la! Other popular savory versions have featured pepperoni,
ham, fried chicken tenders, pork kabobs, sausages, mini-franks, and meatballs.
Butter on a Stick with Fruit! Here’s a healthier alternative. Or you can try tofu, cherry tomatoes, cucumbers, apple pieces, melon
slices, or bananas.

Free Title Checklist,
Okay, I confess, you got me. But now that I realize my mistake, I'm laughing. Although in my defense, it's still 11:42 here in California, so it's not April 1st yet.
ReplyDeleteNah, couldn't be a joke! In my misspent youth (which I survived), I enjoyed eating "hard sauce" (I think it's a Fanny Farmer recipe). Simple to make: soften butter, add confectioners sugar, and a dash of vanilla if you're feeling snarky. Period. I used to eat it with a spoon. (Note: I weighed about 120 pounds back then, and I was 5'10" tall.)
ReplyDeleteYou got me too Cleo, I thought you guys had finally dropped off the dock into the deep end:) xo
ReplyDeleteYou got me, although I thought that the butter was going to turn out to be something that looked like butter but was something tasty. Good one!
ReplyDeleteWell played! And I love the care you put into the photos!
ReplyDeleteMy comment seems to have disappeared. I have to admit you got me on that one! Happy April Fool's Day and thanks for the laugh!
ReplyDeleteBe sure to take an extra Lipitor when you indulge in these killer desserts! (Just kidding...maybe).
ReplyDeleteI needed that chuckle! Thanks, Cleo!
ReplyDeleteCleo, kid you not. My mouth was wide open at this post until the April Fool's. You got me. The woman with the massive coronary! The photos. Incredible. But then bacon with butter that would melt on the barbecue sort of tipped me off... Phew. Very funny.

I figured it was white chocolate not butter, but heh, a few of them sound like something our three year old granddaughter would love since she eats hunks of butter already. Fun post. Wish I could send it my friends who don't do Facebook. One friend won't eat butter or fat of any kind, so this would "gross her out" I am sure of it. Love it, just love it!!!! Thanks for helping to cheer me up today.

No April fools here!! WHEN ARE YOUR LAST TWO COFFEE HOUSE MYSTERIES GOING TO COME OUT IN AUDIO????? I love the audits of your books!!! Like butter for the ears and brain!!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteRonna - I'm glad you enjoyed the post. Okay, calm down about the audio. I have news. BILLIONAIRE BLEND is already available and HOLIDAY BUZZ will be coming out at the end of June (huzzah)! I have more news but cannot announce it yet. Watch my newsletter.
DeleteIn the meantime, librarians can order all 13 of our Coffeehouse Mystery titles on Audio CD via Blackstone Audio. They merged with AudioGo and it took a bit of time to update their library. They are still updating so you will have to be patient if you don't use your library and want to purchase these latest two books in a download (that's coming soon). Watch my newsletter, okay?
In the meantime, to see the entire list of our CM titles in audio CD format for Library purchase, Click Here. And may you listen with buttery joy. :)

I figured it had to be a joke (even though I lived for a number of years in Texas, where the State Fair featured goodies like deep fried Oreos and, yes, deep fried butter)! Well played!
ReplyDeleteBig April Fool's Day LOLs to all of you with sincerest thanks for indulging us today. As Marc's dear late aunt Felicity always said: "If you can't poke fun at yourself, then you're a balloon just waiting to be popped!" :)))

Too funny! Of course, I kept muttering 'massive coronary no kidding' all the way through. But 'no hairballs' had me on the floor. Thanks for a real April 1 treat, Cleo.
ReplyDeleteI loved the photos.

And the prize for the best April Fool's Day joke of 2014 goes to.........CLEO COYLE. The beautiful photos did it--they looked seriously real! Brilliant work, and I'm still laughing. "And if you're watching your weight..." Hahahaha!
ReplyDeleteI had forgotten that it was April Fool's day and I'm thinking why in the world would Cleo post such a "recipe"? I started looking at the photos and then I began reading the text, that's when it occurred to me that this was a joke!
