Low-Fat Chocolate
Ricotta Muffins

My readers might recall these light, chocolaty muffins, which are mentioned in A Brew to a Kill. As the story opens, coffeehouse manager Clare Cosi hires a sweet-natured dietitian to help her lighten some of the higher calorie items on her menu.

When Lilly is brutally struck by a hit-and-run driver, Clare’s outrage propels her into tracking down the culprit; and once again, Clare is sleuthing her way in and out of trouble.

This recipe duplicates one of Lilly's coffeehouse menu makeovers. May you eat it with joy--and in good health!

  1. The muffins sound divine! I just need more mouths to eat them so I don't feel obliged to eat them all!

    1. Thanks, Libby! And you are so right. After baking my last batch, I kept saying, "Just one more..." True, they are low-fat, but I shouldn't be eating the entire pan in one coffee break! :)

  2. Cleo, the muffins sound yummy. Can't wait to try them (gluten-free, of course. I'll let you know how they turn out.) Congrats on the release of Brew to a Kill. What a fun giveaway you're having. And BTAK has 20 recipes? Yipes! That's a cookbook.

  3. I love the recipes in Brew To A Kill because there are so many healthier creations! In fact, there are some blueberries in my fridge just calling out to be made into Blueberry Pie Bars ... yum!

    1. Wendy - aw, thanks, you're a sweetheart. I must admit, those Blueberry Pie Bars are a tasty no-guilt treat, and (even though the recipe works just fine with frozen) this is a great season for baking with fresh blueberries. May you eat with joy...and thx a million for dropping by the Kitchen...

    1. Thank you kindly, Nanc. I love hearing about "Chez Phillipe" (aka your family kitchen), and I'm glad to know the chocolate ricotta muffins were a hit at your house.

This blog has been a great place to share recipes and talk them over with fellow foodies and cooks--you being one--and I appreciate it. My warmest wishes to you and your family...

  5. Congrats on the release of the mm edition of Brew to Kill, Cleo! With twenty recipes, I won't know whether to keep it on my bookshelves or with my cookbooks. Speaking of recipes, I've printed out this and it's sitting on the counter. First thing tomorrow, I'll be in for a treat.

    Thank you!

    1. Belated thanks to you, MJ... Cookbook? With only 20 recipes? Naw, 200 recipes is a cookbook...and you've got to get through 329 pages of murder mystery before the recipes kick in...but, hey, they are fun recipes that Marc and I use often, so we hope readers enjoy them, too.

Thanks a million for taking the time to drop by, I appreciate it!
