Whew! It’s been an exciting week here at Mystery Lovers’ Kitchen, y’all. Avery and I have both felt like the belles of the ball with our new releases! And I’m keeping my fingers crossed that our blog readers have both The Long Quiche Goodbye (which has got to be the best title ever) and Delicious and Suspicious in your beach bags or on your To-Be-Read lists. :)
Since there’s been this party atmosphere and all, I’ve been having entertaining on the brain. But here’s the thing about entertaining—it takes time to prepare. And, as fun as life has been this past week, I haven’t had just gobs of time.
As it happens, I have out of town company with me, even as this posts! We’ve even had a celebratory toast—and a tasty hors d’oeuvre, too.
Just in case you’re looking for something quick, easy, and delicious, here’s a quick recipe to help you out:
Bacon-Wrapped, Cream-Cheese Stuffed, Jalapenos
12 small jalapeño peppers
8 ounces whipped cream cheese
12 slices bacon cut in half (you can also use turkey bacon)
Toothpicks
Slice jalapeño's in half and remove seeds and membranes (to make spicier you can leave the seeds)
Stuff halves with whipped cream cheese
Wrap bacon around the stuffed peppers and secure with a toothpick
Place on wire rack in a cookie sheet. Bake at 350 15-20 minutes or until desired doneness.
Hope you’ll all have a good time at your next summer get-together! Can you believe it’s already July?!

Oh wow! I cannot wait to try these! I love spicy and bacon. And well, cream cheese just makes everything work. What genius to put these three together! I will most definitely give this a try next time we have a party... or even a get-together. At this point any excuse will do!
ReplyDeleteWhat a fun week! Congrats on DELICIOUS AND SUSPICIOUS!! My copy of yours and of Avery's should arrive today And an engagement party too! (Jen, above) - This really is a celebratory time!
Julie
That makes a nice breakfast appetizer.
ReplyDeleteAnother amazing and easy recipe! Hope you are enjoying this special week with Delicious and Suspicious hot off the presses. Yum.

Closet Confidential: a Charlotte Adams mystery
Yummm, this is perfect. I love poppers - except for the breading. Wrap that creamy-filled pepper in turkey bacon, and I'm on it.
ReplyDeleteI love hot peppers; I even put habanero powder in my cookies.
Drolling for these! SO hot in NY that we can't use our oven, but I am making these bacon-wrapped goodies the second the heat wave breaks.
ReplyDeleteIn the meantime, I am all set to enjoy a cold glass of sweet tea and DELICIOUS AND SUSPICIOUS. I bought my copy yesterday in Manhattan. Began reading it on the subway home to Queens and LOVING IT - actually did not want my subway ride to end. Congrats again on the publication of a wonderful book!

How decadent! And today I'm rewarding myself for finishing a million little tasks by hitting the bookstore? Delicious and Suspicious and The Long Quiche Goodbye are on the top of my wishlist. :)
ReplyDeleteJen--It *might* not sit as well at 4 am...but then, I guess it might be a real eye-opener with all that spiciness!
ReplyDeleteHope you have a wonderful engagement party--congratulations!!
Mason--Simple is the way I have to cook around here!
Julie--Cream cheese is good with EVERYthing...bacon too. :)
It's party time, for sure!
Dru--It sort of LOOKS breakfasty, doesn't it? All that bacon!
Mary Jane--Thank you! It's been a happy week so far. :)
Laineshots--Bacon makes a much better wrapper for it. :) Hope you'll enjoy!
Cleo--Y'all are even hotter than WE are! I've been hearing about the heat wave. Hope you stay cool!
And...thank you! That's the coolest thing to me--thinking that my book is in NY and being read on a subway!
Wendy--Sounds like a nice way to reward yourself for all your hard work..a trip to the bookstore! :) Thanks for including our books on your list!
They look good any time, even 4AM...
ReplyDeleteOh yum. These sound terrific, Elizabeth. The cream cheese is a nice foil to the spicy peppers. And we all everything is better with bacon! ; )

Janet--Ha! I thought so too, but I wasn't going to admit to it. :)
ReplyDeleteKrista--The cream cheese does cool it down a little bit, doesn't it?
