#SPOTLIGHT ON PEG COCHRAN/MARGARET LOUDON

OH, THE PLACES YOU’LL GO!

My books have allowed me to travel vicariously to so many places from the East coast to the Midwest and even across the ocean to England!

Gourmet De-Lite Series:  I started my writing career traveling to the East coast and the fictional town of Woodstone, Connecticut, with its majestic, leafy trees and colonial style houses and where my character Giovanna “Gigi” Fitzgerald decides to put down roots.

Vintage Lingerie Series, written as Meg London:  This time the setting was the very real town of Paris, Tennessee.  Emma Taylor, who would much rather be in Paris, France, returns to help her aunt revive her vintage lingerie shop.  Emma soon learns to appreciate Southern ways—a pitcher of sweet tea always at the ready and charming manners and customs.

Farmer’s Daughter Series
:  With this series, I traveled to the Midwest—Michigan where my character Shelby MacDonald is running the small farm left to her by her parents.  Shelby has lived her whole life in Michigan and loves the warmth of the people, the changing seasons and the delicious and fresh summer produce.

Cranberry Cove Series:  I decided to stay in Michigan in the imaginary town of Cranberry Cove on the shore of Lake Michigan.  Monica Albertson left Chicago to help her half-brother with his cranberry farm.   She loves the beauty of the bogs when the cranberries are being harvested as well as the quirky townspeople and she even finds love and happiness to boot.

Murder, She Reported Series:
Back to the East coast but also back in time to New York City in 1938.  Elizabeth “Biz” Adams is living the life of a well-to-do socialite with cocktails at El Morocco, balls at the Waldorf-Astoria and dinner at Delmonico’s until she takes a job as a crime photographer for the Daily Trumpet. She soon learns there’s another, less glamorous side to the Big Apple.

Open Book Series as Margaret Loudon:  I had the itch to travel overseas so I created Penelope “Pen” Parish who takes a job as a writer-in-residence at the Open Book in the made-up town of Upper Chumley-on-Stoke, England.  Writing about afternoon tea with delights like Victoria Sponge Cake, scones with clotted cream and Lemon Drizzle cake made me wish I was really there.

GIVEAWAY!

When a wealthy local benefactor is slain on the farm, Monica has to figure out who wanted to cash in on the killing . . .

As Sassamanash Farms hunkers down for the long winter, Monica agrees to let the local animal shelter host their Christmas-themed fundraiser there. The draw of the event—a chance to have your pet’s picture taken with Santa—brings in animal lovers from far and wide. But when the crackling fire dies down and the festive holiday props are all carted away, Monica discovers a very un-jolly sight next to the barn—the dead body of one of the shelter’s biggest donors. With the farm’s good name in jeopardy, Monica goes to work to root out the killer.

By all accounts the victim was a charming and generous supporter of the shelter, but Monica discovers that he was loathed by those who knew him for being tight-fisted and unscrupulous. Suspecting money might be the motive, she turns her sights on his stylish wife and her lavish lifestyle, along with the manager of the struggling shelter, who stood to collect a hefty bequest from his will. But as Monica closes in on one final clue, the culprit closes in on her. Caught unawares, she’ll have to survive the brutal winter weather, as well as a cold-blooded killer . . .
