My granddaughter liked croissants...until she didn't. I ended up with six croissants going stale (who left the bag open??). I hate wasting food so I decided to see if they could be turned into something. Bread pudding seemed the most logical choice. One recipe claimed you could even make bread pudding with leftover hamburger or hot dog buns or even donuts so why not croissants! This was remarkably easy and I put it together before starting dinner. It would have been heavenly with vanilla ice cream but it was fine by itself.
6 slices stale bread or approximately 4 to 5 cups of torn bread of choice (If your bread is not stale, you can toast it in the oven or air fryer until crisp.)
3 tablespoons of butter, divided
4 beaten eggs
2 cups milk (or Half & Half)
¾ cup white sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 teaspoon cinnamon
½ cup raisins (optional)
Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
Use 1 TBL of butter to coat an 8 x 8 inch baking dish
Break your bread into pieces and place in buttered baking dish
Melt remaining 2 TBL butter and drizzle over bread pieces
In a bowl, mix remaining ingredients until well combined.
Pour mixture over bread pieces.
Bake for 45 minutes.
COVER REVEAL!
Thank you for the Bread Pudding with Croissants recipe. Sounds heavenly! I love bread pudding. Agree with you on not wasting food and often times what you make out of discarded food often turns out better than the original item - case in point.

What a delicious way to use up leftover, stale bread (or croissants), Peg! And I liked that your recipe made a reasonable amount instead of the usual huge casserole dish of bread pudding. Congrats on your upcoming release - it's a beautiful cover!
