MADDIE DAY here, delighted that Murder at the Rusty Anchor is out to readers everywhere!
Part of this sixth Cozy Capers Book Group mystery is the fortieth wedding anniversary party for Astra MacKenzie and Joseph Almeida, Mac Almeida's parents. Mac isn't pleased that her mom springs the news of the party on her with less than a week's notice, and she works frantically help organize it - and to solve the case of the Body Behind the Bar before the festivities begin.
I knew Joseph and Astra needed a signature cocktail for the event, and it turned out they had enjoyed the same one at their wedding four decades earlier.
Mac's husband Tim recreates the drink for their anniversary party.
Anniversary Cocktail
Note: The eagle-eyed among you will notice that I used apple moonshine instead of peach schnapps, and blueberry-pomegranate juice instead of cranberry. I made a shopping error and didn't have time to go back - but the drink came out great, anyway!
Ingredients
1 ounce
vodka
1/2
ounce peach schnapps
2 1/3
ounces sweetened cranberry juice
2 shakes
orange bitters
For a non-alcoholic version, substitute peach juice for the schnapps and replace the vodka with lime seltzer.
Directions
For each drink, shake over ice and serve over ice in an old-fashioned glass with a lime wedge garnish.

Your Anniversary Cocktail looks delicious, Edith/Maddie. On your question of celebratory drinks, champagne (and gin-based cocktails) are the "Bee's Knees" at our house (and that's a tasty drink, too :)). Happy congrats on your new release, and have a lovely weekend!

I'm not a big cocktail drinker, Edith. This one looks good with the cranberry juice. I love cranberries. I'm likely going to choose a nice glass of cold champagne or white wine than a mixes cocktail. Deana Dale
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on your new release! Your books sound interesting, and love these book covers! I'm not a big fan of alcoholic beverages, but for celebration I would have some champagne or sparkling wines.
