Crème Anglaise #recipe + book giveaway from author @DarylWoodgerber

Book giveaway below!

I don't know if you received my latest newsletter, which came out this morning, but to celebrate the upcoming release of A DEADLY ÉCLAIR, I'm doing a blog tour with lots of giveaways, lots of interviews, and lots of fun recipes! I hope you'll tune in.

You can see the blog tour schedule here: BLOG TOUR  Remember to chime in so you're entered.

Also, on November 5th, Sunday, late afternoon, I'm having a Facebook Launch party for A Deadly Éclair. Check out the event page H E R E. Don't miss it. We'll chat. I'll answer questions. I'll be giving away some fun goodies. I love to party!

Plus there are other fun going-ons on my Facebook page. Did you know I'm giving away French Bistro themed boxes? I've given away two so far. The one below is the one open for comments this week: How To Cook like a French Chef. You enter on my author page by finding this artwork and then leaving a comment.

As for my regular foodie blog with all my blog mates right here on Mystery Lovers Kitchen, I've been sharing some French-themed recipes with you over the past month. Today is no exception. This one is one of my publisher's favorites. When she saw it mentioned in the book, she left me a comment about how much she adored the dish. Well, it's not a dish in and of itself. It's a sauce--one that enhances so many desserts. Serve over fresh fruit, pound cake, or other desserts, including soufflé. Think “warm ice cream.” Yum.

And now, I must get back to writing more blogs. A writer's PR life never stops when it's release time! Plus I must turn in book 2 in the series. It's due today! Yipes!

Anybody thinking to themselves: Daryl, breathe???!!!

CRÈME ANGLAISE

(Makes 1 ½ cups)

2 large egg yolks
1 cup heavy cream
1/3 cup white sugar
1 tablespoon brandy-based orange liqueur such as Grand Marnier
1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract

Whisk egg yolks, cream, sugar, orange liqueur, and vanilla in a small saucepan until smooth.
Set saucepan over medium-low heat and cook, stirring constantly, using a spatula or whisk to scrape the bottom, until the mixture is hot and thickens. A candy thermometer should reach about 180 degrees F. This takes 8-10 minutes. Be patient.

Allow sauce to cool.

SWAG GIVEAWAY
Leave me a comment if you know where the French Bistro series is set or if you know the name of the protagonist or what the protagonist does, and you'll be entered to win a hardcover copy of  A DEADLY ECLAIR.  Need a hint? You can find all this information on my website: H E R E
OR you can read the description of the book below.  Heh-heh.
Leave your email even cryptically so I can contact you if you win.
I'll pick a name Friday. Good luck.

Mimi Rousseau’s dream to open her own bistro has seemed beyond her grasp ever since she was chased back home to Nouvelle Vie in Napa Valley by her late husband’s tremendous debt. Fortunately, her best friend Jorianne introduced her to entrepreneur Bryan Baker, who invested in the promising restaurateur’s project. So Mimi works the bistro and inn until she’s able to pay it off and call it her own. Now, Mimi is throwing the inn’s very first wedding—the nuptials of famous talk show host Angelica Edmonton, daughter of Bryan’s half-brother, Edison.

This wedding will be the talk of the town, but anxious Mimi is sure the bride’s puffed-up expectations will collapse, especially when Edison gets drunk and rowdy at the out-of-towners’ dinner. By the evening, things are looking sweet again…until the next morning, when Bryan is found dead at the bistro with an éclair stuffed in his mouth.
All the fingers point at Mimi, whose entire loan is forgiven if Bryan dies. So it’s up to her to éclair—er, clear—her name before the killer turns up the heat again in A Deadly Éclair, Agatha Award-winning author Daryl Wood Gerber’s scrumptious series debut.

Savor the mystery!
