For millions of children around the world, tonight is the most exciting night of the year. And because of one child’s birth long ago, tonight is a Silent Night, a miraculous night, the holiest night of the year.
For the kids out there (and the kids at heart), I’m sharing a fun, festive cookie to leave for Santa Claus, and a link to one of my favorite activities on this very special night—tracking Santa Claus as he races around the world to deliver gifts to girls and boys!
I do this through NORAD TRACKS SANTA, and if you have children or grandchildren who have never tracked Santa's ride, I think you’ll have a very good time doing it. The site even has a Santa’s Village with digital games. And, yes, I’ve been known to procrastinate in that North Pole playland a time or two.

As for my recipe today, it’s a delightful cookie to leave
for Santa Claus, and I hope you enjoy it, too.
Finally, no matter what Santa is or is not able to leave
for you under the tree, remember the very wise words

Thanks to all of you for taking time out of your day to drop into the Kitchen, I appreciate it, and I wish I could pour you a cup of coffee, tea, or cocoa and pass you a plate of those cookies. Since we're far away from each other, I'll just have to send my warmest wishes instead.
ReplyDeleteTo my readers, my fellow crime-writing cooks, and all of our wonderful site followers....

God bless us all.
ReplyDeleteAnd to all, a good night.
Lovely recipe! I think it would make a great Valentine's Day recipe with strawberry preserves (or 4th of July with raspberry... or even maybe Halloween with marmalade? It looks versatile. Have a very Merry Christmas!
ReplyDeleteI heard today that the NORAD tracking tradition began when a company advertised a phone number to call to speak with Santa. Except it was published with a wrong number in it, and NORAD got the calls. At first they were irritated, but then the man in charge thought they could help kids by tracking Santa and the tradition began!
ReplyDeleteMerry Christmas, Cleo and Marc!
