My husband, Marc, and I have had a tough time lately with his surgery and my father’s passing, but the reviews coming in for Billionaire Blend have brightened our spirits in this dark year...

Kirkus honored it with a Starred Review,
"awarded to books of exceptional merit."

RT Book Reviews named it a Top Pick
among December’s Mysteries and Thrillers,
and...

Publishers Weekly called “a highly satisfying mystery.”

Billionaire Blend is the
 13th entry in the bestselling
Coffeehouse Mystery series.
But what matters most now is what you think. Marc and I hope you enjoy our latest entry. We had a grand time writing it, and it's filled with ups and down, twists and turns.

In the course of solving the case of the car-bombed Billionaire, coffeehouse manager Clare Cosi will have to bribe an NYPD bomb squad commander (with Irish Cream fudge), crack a mathematicians 17-digit passcode (using a children's riddle), fix her daughter's love life, stop a Slayer (while working with one), and dream up ideas for a billionaires' potluck.

By the end of the book, you'll have taken a trip around the world and have over 20 recipes to try in your own kitchen--and hold on tight for the the final sequence. It's killer.

"Billionaire" Recipes

I'll have a new recipe for you next week.
In the meantime, I'm happy to share some of the
recipes you'll find in my new Coffeehouse Mystery.

Perfect Pumpkin
Spice Muffins

I love this recipe. It gives me
perfectly beautiful muffins every time.

Crispy Almond Biscotti:
Easy Food Processor Method

1, 2, 3 and it's done! This recipe is so easy and the
biscotti are not only elegant to serve,
their nut crunch makes them satisfyingly good,
especially with coffee and tea.

A Fantastic Skillet Lasagna

This is the recipe Clare serves her NYPD boyfriend,
Mike Quinn. What they discuss over this meal
takes the mystery in a whole new direction,
and takes readers (and most New Yorkers)
to a place they've never been before....

Italian Beignets

Yes, you read that right.
Clare Cosi grew up eating these
little pillows of snow-dusted bliss.

Make Your Own Kahlua

An easy recipe that really works.
(I think it tastes better than store-bought.)

Chocolate-Bottom
Banana Bars
This is one of my favorite recipes in the book.
Quick to mix up, delicious to eat, and impressive
to serve with two layers of flavor.

There are even more recipes in the book
and I'll have the full recipe guide for you
in my next newsletter, coming this week!

  2. Can't wait. I've been requested (again) to make your butterscotch pecan cheesecake for my niece's Christmas present. I make it for my sister-in-law's birthday each ear.

    1. Sue F - As a culinary mystery writer, I'm always looking for ways to make food and drinks part of my story, which means taste testing is part of the job. Poor me, right? Actually, poor pants, which get stretched quite a bit during the "research" phase!

I'm so glad you're enjoying the recipes here at MLK. May you always read (and eat) with joy...

I look forward to reading Billionaire Blend. I've just started and can't wait to see where it takes me.

I am having trouble with the facebook link. It lets me "like" but doesn't post. Any idea what the problem might be?

    1. Libby - I'll take the last Q. first...try the "share" link, that *should* work for you, at least it looks like it will work from my end.

On BB, Marc and I had a grand time writing this entry. We had fun doing things with the characters that we've never done before--and taking them places that they've never been. We can only hope our readers enjoy the other end of this process!

Thanks for dropping in today, Libby. It's always a pleasure to see you in "The Kitchen" - have a great week...

    1. Sue – Happy thanks for the lovely note. I continue to maintain that food writing and photography are zero calories--on your end, anyway.

On my end, the food is just sitting there after being made and photographed…just sitting there whispering (okay, *shouting*) “Eat me! Eat me!”

I think I may seriously consider re-acquainting myself with jazzercise. :)

  14. Whee! Can't wait for the next Clare adventure.

Love your stories, love your characters, but really love the recipes. I keep your books in the kitchen with my cookbooks! And I would also love for all of them to be in one place, a la a cookbook of their own. But in lieu of that, thanks for including them in the books.

Best of luck on the release.
