Welcome Holly Jacobs!

Please say howdy to my friend and our
Sunday guest
blogger, Holly Jacobs!
Holly has been a long
time pal of mine,
starting when we both wrote
for Harlequin
Duets. She's an absolute delight
as a person
and a writer, so I'm just tickled to
have her
here with us!

Hi, I'm Holly Jacobs. I don't write mysteries.
Okay, so I did once write a comedic romance

that might count. It was sort of a Weekend at

Bernie's story. A dead body that kept moving

around. However, my dead body died happy and

stayed frozen the whole time (Bernie would

have smelled). The book's title was

Found and Lost. Me, I wanted to call it

Can't Find NoBODY. I thought it was a perfect

title for a dead body mystery/romance!

LOL

Okay, the rest of my bio? Wife, mother,

dog-owner (okay the dogs wouldn't agree

with that...Ethel Merman and Ella Fitzgerald

are pretty sure they own me.) and writer...that

about sums up who I am. I'm also someone who

really enjoys cooking and baking. Nothing fancy.

Just good old home cooking sort of meals.

When my friend Jenn asked me to participate in

this blog I wanted to think of something unusual,

but easy. Something that was great for a quick

holiday treat. And I hit on Wheaties Bread. Yes,

I mean Wheaties as in the breakfast cereal. We've

made it for years, and have adapted it from the

original recipe that a friend gave me. It's quick

to throw together, and it's lovely when holiday

company stops in for coffee.

Here goes:

Wheaties Bread

2 Cups Whole Wheat Flour (or White Wheat)

1 Cup Sugar

2 1/2 tsp Baking Powder

3/4 tsp Salt

2 tsp Cinnamon (I tend to use a bit

more...we like it spicy)

Mix the dry ingredients, then add:

2 Cups Wheaties cereal

1 Cup Milk

1 Egg, slightly beaten

1/4 Cup Oil

Mix.

Use cooking spray to coat a bread pan.
Rather than dust it with flour, I dust it with
sugar (or a sugar/cinnamon mixture).
Pour the mixture in. (I tend to sprinkle
a fine layer of sugar on top as well.)
Bake at 350 for 60 Minutes.

This is a great sweet bread to serve warm to guests
during the busy holiday season. And this year's

holiday season is really busy here. In addition

to family gatherings, I have two releases!!

  1. The bread recipe sounds great. Finally a bread I can make without have to have a bread machine. Can't wait to try it. The books sound interesting too and I'm with Jenn, the dog on the cover is so cute.

  8. Hi, everyone! I just got in from TN. Okay, not just. I took a shower first, but here I am! I want to say thanks to Jenn for inviting me! When she asked for a recipe, this bread came to mind, because it's quick and easy and oh-so good! If you don't have whole wheat, the original recipe called for white flour. My kids frequently complain that I try to make everything healthy...LOL I do!

Mason, I'm so glad you think the dog on the cover is cute! I love that cover! I tend to give my schpeel whenever I'm talking about my Avalon books...they're main market is libraries. They're hardback, library bound and expensive. So please, if you want to read the book, ask your local library to buy it and then just borrow it! Of course, Unexpected Gifts is a Harlequin, and I'm totally okay with people buying that! LOL

Thanks, Lesa! I really hope you like them!

Janel, I found the original recipe back when I was in my teens and it's morphed since then! I hope you like it! LOL

Avery, I'm a very mysterious person...okay, so not really, but still, I'm glad you all let me come visit!! LOL

Thanks, Elizabeth/Riley...aka she of two names! Thanks so much for letting come hang out with you all!!

Jenn, It's always nice to come home, but having you all here waiting for me made it even nicer!!
